Welcome to
Take a Journey into History, the new interactive website of the Faculty of History at Cambridge University. We have set it up so that you can find out something about who we are and what we do.
There are over 100 professional historians at Cambridge, researching and teaching in the Faculty itself and in the Colleges. They include some of the world's leading historians, and many younger colleagues who are rapidly building a leading reputation in their chosen field. The website offers you a chance to discover their work and sample some of their teaching in our virtual classroom. I hope it will give you a flavour of what you can expect if you come to study History at one of the world's leading centres in the subject.
One of our purposes in launching this website is to attract the very best applicants to study History at Cambridge. No matter what kind of background you come from, or which school you go to, or where you live, we want to hear from you if you are interested in coming here.
Financing your studies can be a worry, so we are including some essential information on the website that we hope will reassure you that it can be done without bankrupting you or your parents. History can be a superb preparation for a wide variety of careers as well as being an enjoyable, challenging and stimulating study in itself, and we have also included a section that shows you some of the destinations to which the study of History here at Cambridge can lead you after you have graduated.
And if you have any comments on the website, or suggestions as to how it can be improved, please get in touch; we'd love to hear from you!
I hope you enjoy your journey into the world of history, and look forward to hearing from you.
